Brody Singer took one look at Abby Dunn and fell in instant lust. Abby looks a lot like a woman he once knew, one who died years ago. But is his attraction merely a holdover from a secret crush from long ago? Abby’s definitely someone different. She’s a lot shier, a lot sexier, and despite her attempts to dissuade his interest, mesmerizing.
Abby isn’t having it. She’s still trying to put her last disastrous relationship behind her and overcome the flaws her ex so kindly pointed out. She’s too short, too plump, too boring, too blah. But somehow Brody isn’t getting the picture that someone as handsome and built as he is should be with a woman far prettier. It doesn’t help that when writing her steamy books, she keeps casting Brody as the hero.
Only Abby can write her own ending. She just has to decide which version to keep: the one where she shows Brody she’s a woman worth keeping and he’s a man worth loving? Or the one where she settles for a rough draft of a life, alone and safe from ever getting hurt again?
Every time Delilah Webster runs into Mike McCauley, he practically bites her head off. The rough-and-tumble contractor clearly has baggage. Del has her own emotional scars and knows she’s better off keeping her distance, but Mike’s temptation in jeans and a T-shirt, and she’s always been good with her hands…
There’s something about the strong-willed mechanic that sets Mike’s motor running–-and scares the hell out of him. Mike has loved and lost and will never hurt like that again, even if that means walking away from a woman who makes him feel alive for the first time in years.
When a simple kiss turns hot and heavy, Mike discovers he can’t stay away, no matter how certain he is they’re destined to crash and burn…
Powerless by Tera Lynn Childs My rating: 5 of 5 stars I have been itching to read a superhero book, so I was stoked to have Powerless on hand to dive into. I have read a couple of books by Tracy before and loved her world building, so I just knew I would love this story as well. I was so right! I read this book in one day. I was so into it I just did not want to put it down! It is a fast and super fun read and I really enjoyed the characters. The heroine Kenna is spunky, smart, and has a hilarious inner dialogue. I love that although she is powerless she refuses to be helpless. I knew Kenna was in trouble as soon as Draven came into the picture. I mean who wouldn't fall for tall, dark, and dreamy that gives you chocolate! He's every girls dream, the bad boy with a good heart * insert dreamy sigh here *. Their chemistry and witty banter had me all swoony and giddy, smiling behind the pages. I also really like the book's overall message too that not every hero is good and not every villain is bad. Everyone is capable of choosing who they are and what their actions will say about them. Powerless is the first book in a new series that I can't wait to continue! That ending has me so anxious to get my hands on the next book!
The issue wasn’t not wanting him—it was wanting him too badly. With too many questions building like the heat through her body, she flipped over. “What do you want?” Without a word, he took her into his arms. “What are you doing?” Though she didn’t resist, she put one hand on his chest in a sad mock show of defiance, but she gained the opportunity to take in his smooth, tight skin. “Answering your question. I want to hold my lady in bed.” He pulled her closer. “Your lady?” What did he mean? His arms suffocated her, but she couldn’t leave. Instead she gasped for air. “Yes.” He rubbed her back. “In case you’re wondering, in my definition of the word, it’s not an English title.” She refused to react, refused to acknowledge how her stomach fluttered, refused to take in the scent of his soap. “What do you want, Logan?” “For someone with enough smarts to earn multiple degrees, I thought I made my intentions very clear.” His breath brushed against her lips. “I want you.” “Logan.” Unsure if she wanted to slap him or grab him, she opted for feeling his chest again. How could he want her? “When you were a teenager, what did you want?” “A motocross bike and a naughty magazine.” He let out a laugh. “You don’t understand.” She shook her head. “Yes, I do. What I’m trying to tell you is the boy that wanted a bike and naked pictures is not the same man who met a woman and now wants her.” He moved her bangs off her forehead. “The girl who saw a character in a movie and had a crush is not the same as the woman who met a man years later.” Could she let go and be with him and not worry every time he wasn’t in her sight? “What’s your fantasy, Logan?” All her cards were faceup on the table. He knew everything, and they needed to even the odds. “Not Erin, if that’s what you’re worried about.” “Logan.” “I want to kiss you until neither of us can breathe, and then I want to take my time and explore every inch of you until you’re writhing beneath me. Then, I want to make love to you until you have no choice but to dig your nails into my back and scream.” He took her chin in his hand.
